soul care. anytime. anywhere.
Veterans are most at risk during transition. That’s exactly when they lose access to one of the people they trust most:
Chaplains.
We are rebuilding that connection—at scale.
THE CORE PROBLEM
Every year, hundreds of thousands of veterans leave the military.
Most will never engage formal mental health systems.
Many who die by suicide never ask for help.
At the same time, military chaplains—proven, trusted, and experienced in crisis—are also transitioning out.
Two critical resources are moving in parallel.
But the system never connects them.
What appears to be the biggest obstacle…
-
THE PROBLEM IS TRANSITIONING OUT OF THE MILITARY IS DISORIENTING FOR VETERANS.
Loss of identity, structure, and community
Increased isolation and vulnerability
THE SOLUTION IS TO RECRUIT CHAPLAINS WHO ARE FACING TRANSITION THEMSELVES.
Leverage existing systems to intentionally bring chaplain and veteran together
Provide stability and continued purpose for chaplain and veteran alike
-
THE PROBLEM IS THE TRUST CHAPLAINS FORGE IN UNIFORM IS LOST IN CIVILIAN LIFE.
In the military: confidential, embedded, trusted in crisis
In civilian life: invisible, inaccessible, in different careers
THE SOLUTION IS TO PLACE CHAPLAINS WHERE VETERANS ALREADY ARE.
Leverage the trust that is already built by creating a path to accessibility
High-access, non-clinical environments such as the campus or workplace
-
THE PROBLEM IS ADDITIONAL TRAINING CREATES BARRIERS TO A PROVEN RESOURCE
Military chaplains are tested in crisis response, trauma care, and moral injury
Clinical training is a financial disincentive for experienced chaplains
THE SOLUTION IS TO TRAIN CHAPLAINS AND ALIGN ROLES BASED ON EXISTING COMPETENCIES
Leverage Master’s-level knowledge and military experience for ready critical support
Provide training as needed to adapt the chaplain to their context without delay
-
THE PROBLEM IS THERE IS NO CLEAR CIVILIAN CAREER TRACK FOR MILITARY CHAPLAINS
Many chaplains desire to continue serving veterans and military families
Options are typically limited to local church ministry or healthcare chaplaincy
THE SOLUTION IS TO CONNECT CHAPLAINS TO CAREER PATHS THAT PROMOTE THEIR CALLING
Leverage veteran hiring initiatives to offer a military-equivalent resource
Build a civilian pathway for continued service, anchored in community impact
… is actually our greatest opportunity.
Impacting the Campus
Over 50,000 cadets and midshipmen are in ROTC programs across approximately 300 university campuses, representing 60% of our future military officers.
Every year, over 200,000 military veterans are added to the civilian labor market, comprising 6% of the American workforce. Companies seeking to gain a competitive edge actively recruit veterans and military spouses.
Impacting the Workplace
Impacting the Community
In light of the ubiquitous nature of high-stress environments in society today, our chaplain programs are tailored to provide essential support to veterans wherever they may live, work, and serve.
“No office in America is so delicately balanced between church and state as that of the military chaplain.”
— Hans Zeiger, Pepperdine’s School of Public Policy
