Workplace Chaplaincy
According to a recent 2022-2023 AFLAC study, 74% of American workers are stressed. And the American Psychological Association adds that almost half of younger workers feel undervalued and isolated in the workplace.
With over 2.8 million military and civilian employees, the Department of Defense is the largest employer in the United States. Even in the secular and pluralistic context in which the military operates, chaplains are appointed and empowered to provide spiritual care to members of faith and non-faith.
Military members and their families have access to a trusted, competent, compassionate, and confidential resource, someone who can walk with them through any of life’s difficulties.
Each year, over 200,000 veterans leave the military and are added to the workplace, which indicates that 6% of the American workforce is used to having access to a chaplain at work.
Having access to a spiritual resource bolsters resilience in the modern workplace. According to the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, this boosts work engagement and plays a mediating role between the depression and burnout experienced by a majority of workers today.
Chapel Corps is seeking to partner with organizational leaders that are looking to add support for and bolster the resilience of their team members by developing a chaplain program for their company, agency, or organization.
